OPTO-IFMKII Interface

Home

The OPTO-IFMKII is into it's sixth year of total reliability.  A fully isolated interface for digital modes. It has it's own vox ptt, for those whom have no serial ports free on their PC's, as well as the normal RTS/DTR com port ptt.  A truly universal isolated interface for all radio's, many in use for PSK31, RTTY, MFSK, SSTV, etc etc, and not a reported failure to date. It is very useful for portable work, as there is no requirement for any dc supply if vox is not being used.  As can be seen the unit is built on a high quality silk screened circuit board, and housed in an ABS case. It is simplicity in itself to wire up and run with any of the data mode software(s) around. We also have a voice vox version for voip internet use. One of the claims made by manufacturers of USB interfaces is they make for less cable clutter. Well don't be misled by that as they generally don't. For example whether you use a serial com port or usb port you still need a cable. Whether you use a non usb interface or a usb one, you still require cables to the radio. If the usb interface has it's own audio built in, then you are saving a cable going to your pc soundcard...wow :-).  If you have no com ports available then it is still more cost effective to buy an OPTO-IFMKII with a USB/Serial converter than a USB port interface. In fact as mentioned you don't need a com port or USB port with this interface, you can use the data vox instead !, which is ideal if you intend using the interface in different locations, or portable etc etc.
